A large rescueteam was needed to get the 63 stone teenager Georgina Davis out of her house. The team had to knock down walls and built a bridge to carry the teenager away.
The teenager had to go the hospital for health problems. It was the first time that she left her home in six months. Her mother felt guilty because she brought her daughter unhealthy fast food. She said that she and her daughter started confort eating when her husband died. At that time Georgina was only 5 years old.
Georgina's previous efforts to loose weight didn't work out because she couldn't stick to to the 1500 calories diet, when she had to do it on her own and she missed the support of a coach
Personal Opinion
It is is terrible that a person can become so fat that they had to knock down walls to get her out of the house. I can't understand a mother who gluts her child because of her own grief. The mother is sick and irrisponsible because she almost killed her daughter. It wouldn't have come to such a climax, if people in her neighbourhood had warned social Service before.
This event also shows that chatting on internet gives people the feeling to have lots of friends, otherwise Georgina couldn't have stayed at home for six months. I hope she has some real friend who will help her.

I think this is a terrible thing. If you watch programmes on TV about the subject, it is amamzing these people are still alive. I have no ideal why they behave like they do. If your scales are nearing 100 kg, you should be thinking about doing something about it.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou should see the movie"What's eating Gilbert Grape, with Johnny Depp and Leonardo di Caprio, it is really good and gives you some insight in how family members cope with a situation like this.
Wow, knock over walls to be able to get out of your house.. Horrible. I have a son who has to deal with a little overweight. He is only eight years old and we run to the gym every week, he plays football twice a week and we go for a stroll as often as we can. And he brings cucumber, tomatoes or fruit to class.. It should not be that difficult to teach your children how to live an healthy life?!!

How sad that the loss of a husband can lead to a dangerously obese child. Unfortunately this is not the first time I hear such a story. I too have seen the movie 'What's eating Gilbert Grape, with Johnny Depp and Leonardo di Caprio. The shame of being fat is portrayed very movingly. Alas, being overweight is not always a simple matter of getting more physical exercise. Psychological problems do play an important factor in many cases.
